Air fryers can be a big advantage for you household if you don’t have to cook for more than three to four persons or if you want to cook something quick and healthy.
Still the acquisition of an air fryer should well be thought through as it is – to be honest – nothing else but a small convection oven. Still, an air fryer saves energy while warming up and cooking. Compared to my convection oven which needs about 10-15 minutes to warm up to 180°C, the air fryer needs just 4 minutes. Also, keeping the interior to the same temperature, the air fryer is more economic due to the smaller space to be heated.
My first air fryer was a special offer at a local supermarket with appr. 2 liters capacity. Ideal for a single household. Still, I used it quite often for small snacks in the evenings, being alone at home as my husband works until late at night and my kids are grown up and living on their own. By this time, I got a fan of the advantages so I decided to buy a larger air fryer with 5.5 liters capacity. I spent appr. one month viewing all kinds of reviews until I made my final decision if it is really a good idea and which model to buy. Ever since I use it quite often to prepare food for me and my husband.
This recipe below is a nice and healthy evening snack for two persons. Basically you can add any vegetable of your choice you would use as grilled vegetable for example. If you want to add broccoli in this recipe I highly recommend to use frozen as it will be cooked to the point and won’t be burned after the end of the cooking time.
What you need:
(for 2 portions)
300gr chicken filet
1-2 small zucchini
1-2 small carrots
1 bell pepper (color of you choice)
100gr broccoli florets (preferably frozen)
100gr white mushrooms
¼ tsp. paprika powder
¼ tsp. smoked paprika powder
¼ tsp. garlic powder
¼ tsp. chili powder (optional)
Salt
Pepper
1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 Tbsp olive oil
How to prepare:
Cut the chicken filet into appr. 1,5 cm cubes.
Devide the zucchini into quaters lengthwise and cut into slices. Cut the onion, the carrots and the mushroom into slices. Cut the bell pepper into large squares.
Mix all ingredients in a large bow.
Preheat the air fryer to 180°C. Cook for 25-30 minutes, shaking the basket of the airfryer once after half the cooking time.
